B.I.G is an acronym for big lottery fund, which was formed after the creation of the National lottery by the U.K. government. It is a grant-giving institute set up by the government to administer the funds obtained by the sales of the National lottery. It has an annual budget of £630 millions.

Income:

BIG has an income of approximately £630 million a year as of February 2007, this comes from the Lottery draw on a weekly basis and raises funds for good reasons. BIG’s budget also makes it the largest of all the Lottery investors and a powerful voice for the voluntary and charitable sector.

Creation:

BIG Lottery Fund was established on the 1st of December’2006 by a managerial merger of the ex- United Kingdom Lotto distributing community. It was further worked on by the National Lottery Act 2006 which incorporated the Millennium Commission.

The Big Lottery Fund is now a single body with a new good cause and single set of simpler rules, to make it comfortable for potential applicants to win Lottery money. The consequential efficiency investments are accessible as additional Lotto funding for kind causes. The Act also allows for increased general public involvement in the Lotto games.

The main aim is to hold up the projects which brings improvement to communities and the lives of people who need the most, and one third of the Fund’s money is distributed through a large funding flow focusing on restricted community requirements.
